Charlotte Q-Tour Golf Event 2007

Hey QUES::::

This is the  information for the 07' Charlotte Q-Tour event.  Pass this around and put it on your calendar.

I am one of the hostfor the Charlotte event and need  your support to make this the biggest Q-tour event yet.

The event in ATL  this year  set the bar pretty high with 85 bruhs competing across all 3 flights with a ridiculous 'set out'  with over 100+ bruhs  (golfers or non golfers) "fellowshipping"....
{You don't have to be good, just have your own clubs and enjoy being out with the bruhs...}

(Currently 42 bruhs verbally committed with 9 weeks left ...  It's gonna be big...

Bruhs from Chicago, Florida,  Arizona,  New York, Texas, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Carolina, DC, Tennessee,  NC, SC  and other states participate from all ages and skill levels... Charlotte will be bigger and better.

If anyone has any question , have them call me. The golf has always been secondary with these events.

Fellowshipping has always made the tour successful, so do what you can to  SPREAD THE WORD ...  I hope to see all of you here in

CEREMONY HONORS BLACK WOMEN - Mahogany Dime Awards

CEREMONY HONORS BLACK WOMEN

The Fourth Annual Mahogany Dime Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday April 28, 2007, at 7:00 PM at the Hayti Heritage Center in Durham.  Past recipients have included Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole, President of Bennett College for Women, Eunice Dudley, CFO of Dudley Cosmetics, and Mildred "Mama Dip" Council of Chapel Hill.  This year's honorees are phenomenal African American women who have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields.

Michele Andrea Bowen of Durham will be honored in the category of the Arts.  Bowen is the author of Church Folk and Second Sunday, both of which reached number 1 on the Essence Magazine Bestseller List.  Her most recent work is Holy Ghost Corner.  She is currently working on her fourth book.  Bowen also devotes time to teaching classes and workshops about writing.

Andrea Harris of Henderson will be honored in the area of Leadership.  Harris is the President of the North Carolina Institute of Minority Economic Development in Durham. The institute is a nonprofit organization founded in 1986 to promote models and knowledge that build the asset base of minority and low-wealth communities, with a particular focus on minority- and women-owned businesses.

Gloria King of Durham will be honored in the area of service.  King has been a long time servant of the Durham community as a part of the Lincoln Hospital School of Nursing Alumni.  She was instrumental in helping to establish a historical monument for the former Lincoln Hospital.  Locally, she has been a member of the American Cancer Society, serving on its Board of Directors.  She has received all three of the organization's awards: Rookie of the Year, Sword of Hope Volunteer of the Year and the Eloise Massey Volunteer Award.  All awards were given due to her tireless commitment to Cancer Prevention Education.

Stephanie Tyson and Vivian Joiner of Winston-Salem will be honored in the area of entrepreneurship.  Tyson and Joiner are the owners of Sweet Potatoes Restaurant in Winston-Salem.  The restaurant opened in 2003 and has garnered national attention as a fine dining experience because of its unique style of southern inspired, uptown, and down home cooking.  From the fried green tomatoes and okra basket to the decadent desserts, it is a mouthwatering delight.  In August of 2006, Southern Living Magazine listed it as one of four "must do" dinning experiences in the city of Winston Salem.

Justice Patricia Timmons Goodson of Fayetteville will receive the Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole Living Legend Award.  Justice Timmons-Goodson is the first African American woman to sit on the North Carolina Supreme Court.  She worked as a prosecutor and as a private attorney in Fayetteville until she was named a District Court judge in 1984; Timmons-Goodson was subsequently elected to four-year terms as a district judge in 1986 , 1990 , and 1994 . In 1997 , she was appointed by Gov. Jim Hunt to the North Carolina Court of Appeals. She retired from that court in late 2005.

Jasmine Williams of Raleigh will be recognized as the "Mahogany Dime in the Making."  She is a 13 year old entrepreneur, who started making jewelry at age nine for her family members.  After noticing the limited jewelry styles for girls, Williams worked to provide fun, attractive jewelry for females of all ages and with the support of her family she started Bez-Glorify.  Williams is an honor student at East Garner Middle School where she plays the piano and the clarinet in the school band.  She also steps and dances in her church dance ministry.

A portion of the proceeds from the Mahogany Dime Awards will be donated to Sister's Network Triangle, an affiliate of Sisters Network, Inc. a national African American breast cancer survivorship organization.  It is the leading voice for African American breast cancer survivors in the United States.  During 2005, nationally, the organization's outreach initiative impacted an estimated 6.3 million families.

Mahogany Dime LLC, the company that produces the program, is an arts and entertainment company based in Durham.  The company specializes in motivational speaking/corporate training, dramatic performances, and poetry.  The company has worked with Monster Worldwide, Merck Manufacturing, Prosperity Marketing, and Piedmont Community College.

Angela Ray, Mahogany Dime's CEO, established the awards in 2004 to recognize heroines in the community.  Drawing upon North Carolina's rich African American heritage and culture as the backdrop for the awards, she envisioned creating a star studded celebration that would parallel their achievements.

The Mahogany Dime Awards will be hosted by Gayle Hurd of Radio One Raleigh for the fourth consecutive year.  A roster of some of the state's prominent men will serve as award's presenters with entertainment by some of the area's finest talents.  A reception by Tiffany's catering will follow the program.  The event is open to the public.  For more information, please visit, www.mahoganydime.com.
